Fire Prevention

Petal Fire Department

Communities throughout the United States have looked to their Fire Department to provide valuable services for their citizens. These services are essential for communities to safely develop, grow and prosper. A component of services the Petal Fire Department provides is “Fire & Life Safety Services.”  The service programs are organized to provide the highest quality customer service to fulfill the Department’s mission and the needs of the community.

Fire & Life Safety Services focuses on educating the community about the benefits of proper safety practices and identifying and eliminating all types of hazardous conditions, which pose a threat to life, property, and the environment.

Services cover a diverse area of responsibilities as related to Fire & Life Safety. Diverse activities such as assisting in the planning and inspections of commercial, industrial and residential developments. New processes and products must be analyzed, and codes and inspections kept current. Fires must be investigated, and the information entered into the records management system to update and improve the safety of the community and our personnel.

Our fire investigators conduct investigations of fires to determine the cause or investigate suspected arson. They interview witnesses, collect evidence, write reports, and conduct training programs for fire departmental personnel.
