Alderman Ward 4 - Brad Amacker


















Brad Amacker, a National Board Certified Teacher since 2003, has taught in the Petal School District since 1995. Brad previously taught social studies at Petal High School before piloting the state’s first high school Information Technology curriculum. He has a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from Pearl River College, a BS in History from Southern Miss, and a Master’s Degree from William Carey. Brad also holds IT industry certifications from Cisco, Microsoft, HP, ETA, and Certiport.


Brad was selected Petal High School Teacher of the Year in 2011, and was a RadioShack National Teacher of Technology in 2004. He is FEMA trained in Emergency Management and is a member of the Forrest County Hazard Mitigation Committee, and serves as co-coordinator of the Petal School District’s StormReady Project. Brad also manages technology acquisitions and fixed assets at Petal High School. He is active in the local amateur radio club providing event communications, teaching license classes, and giving the FCC exams. Brad served in the Mississippi Army National Guard for six years. He is a lifelong Scouter, having earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1985.


Brad is married to Lisa Amacker, who is also a teacher in the Petal School District. They have two children, John Brady and JoBeth. His family attends First Baptist Church of Petal.
