Free Smoke Detectors

Friday, July 23, 2010

The Petal Fire Department will be installing smoke detectors during the months of August and September. These will be at no cost to homeowners and are provided by the State Fire Marshall's office through federal grant money.

We are currently taking requests from anyone needing this service. This program targets senior citizens, homes with children age 14 and under, and low income families. Commercial businesses, churches, and rental properties are not eligible. Petal Fire Dept. personnel will provide the installation and perform a courtesy home fire safety inspection for all homeowners needing smoke alarms.

All Petal residents desiring free smoke detectors can register by calling Station # 1 at 601-705-0908, or stopping by any of our three stations.
